Ellen Page is a 'Lioness'; Jai Courtney Joins 'The Kaiser's Last Kiss'; Neil Casey is 'Ghostbusters' Villain

Ellen Page is attached to star in the indie film Lioness, based on the true story of U.S. Marine Leslie Martz. Penned by Rosalind Ross (Matador), the film tells Martz's story as a former Iraq War soldier who was re-deployed to Afghanistan to lead a Female Engagement Team that would gain the trust of Afghan women. While her orders were to give these women the skills to survive, she was also to get information on the Taliban from them. But Martz had another secret as she was hiding the fact she was a gay woman in the military. Page is set to star next in the gay rights drama Freeheld alongside Julianne Moore. [THR]

Jai Courtney, who can be seen right now in Terminator Genisys, has joined Lily James and Christopher Plummer in The Kaiser's Last Kiss. Marking the directorial debut of Tony Award nominee David Leveau, the film is a fictional account of the final days of Kaiser Wilhelm, who had been exiled to the Netherlands since 1917. "In an effort to thwart the Nazis, the Dutch resistance work covertly with Winston Churchill to insert an agent into the Kaiser’s household. A lethally dangerous love affair ignites between a German officer (Courtney) and a young Jewish Dutch woman (James) with devastating consequences as the Nazis race to identify and eliminate the agent behind the potentially disastrous defection of their former Emperor to England." With Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot featuring SNL vets Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, it makes sense that the film's villain would also be from the sketch comedy. SNL and Inside Amy Schumer writer Neil Casey will play the bad guy, Rowan, but that's all the details available on his character. Perhaps he'll work alongside the New York City mayor, who we know will be played by Andy Garcia? Also starring Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, and Michael K. Williams, the film opens on July 22nd 2016. [Deadline]
