Jack Black is Author R.L. Stine in the First 'Goosebumps' Trailer
If you're of a certain age and really into horror novels you probably read one or two or twenty of R.L. Stine's popular Goosebumps books. The best-selling series also spawned a TV series that nearly matched their popularity, but it's been a long time coming in waiting for its first feature film. Considering the film was there at Comic-Con last summer, it's only fitting that the trailer debuted today just as the pop culture event is about to kick off once again.
Reuniting Jack Black with Gulliver's Travels director Rob Letterman, the film centers on two teens (Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush) who must join with the Stine (played by Black) to stop the author's literary monsters who have sprung to life.
As for the author himself, he gives the film his whole-hearted stamp of approval. He tells Comingsooon...
“All the early monsters that are in the books [are in the film]. They all come out, they’re all there. The real evil one is Slappy the Dummy, he’s there, the Abominable Snowman from Pasadena is there, and lawn gnomes, HUNDREDS of lawn gnomes. They’re great, they’re really good.”
Also starring Jillian Bell, Amy Ryan, Ken Marino, and Ryan Lee, Goosebumps opens Oct. 16th.
