Marisa Tomei Up for Aunt May Role in the New Spider-Man Movie
Marvel and Sony weren't kidding when they said this would be a much younger Spider-Man than we've ever seen on the big screen. Not only did they cast Tom Holland to take the role of a truly high school-aged Peter Parker in the film, but now it looks as if his Aunt May will be a lot more spry.
According to Variety, Marisa Tomei is the top choice to play Aunt May in the solo Spidey film. The Oscar-winning My Cousin Vinny actress hasn't signed on the dotted line yet but an offer was apparently sent out to her last week. She recently agreed to join the second season of Fox's hit series, Empire.
As someone who has basically been in love with Marisa Tomei since A Different World it's great to see her up for a big role like this. On the other hand, that it's the Aunt May role makes me feel incredibly old.
Directed by Jon Watts, the new Spider-Man movie opens July 28th 2017.
