A New Film Reuniting Joaquin Phoenix and M. Night Shyamalan is in the Works

Long before he took that weird hiatus and came back all eccentric and stuff, Joaquin Phoenix was just an actor who liked working with M. Night Shyamalan. They did two films together, Signs and The Village, both of which are pretty good (save your emails!!!) until you get to the end. Sorta like most of Shyamalan's movies. Anyway, it's been awhile, but the two are finally reuniting on something new.

According to Variety, Shyamalan will direct Phoenix in a movie that is being kept totally under wraps for now.  The small-budget warriors at Blumhouse Productions are behind this one, just as they are Shyamalan's upcoming horror, The Visit, so don't expect it to be a massive studio effort like After Earth was.

It'll be interesting to see how these two gel considering they are in very different places in their respective careers. Certainly, Phoenix doesn't agree to do everything that crosses his desk, so there must be something he sees in the material that makes it worth his time.
