First Look at Michael Fassbender in the 'Assassin's Creed' Film

If Hitman: Agent 47 proved anything it's that video game movies have a long way to go before they earn any respectability around Hollywood, but perhaps that is about to change. Another best-selling franchise is hitting the big screen in Assassin's Creed, and with Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and a director like Justin Kurzel (Hamlet) there's every reason to think it will be a breakthrough film for the genre.

The first look at Fassbender in Asssassin's Creed has been released in an image that should look familiar to fans of the game. He plays Callum Lynch, a brand new character created for the movie, although the plot remains mostly unchanged:

“Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.”

Also starring Ariane Labed and Michael K. Williams, Assassin's Creed opens December 21st 2016. [Yahoo!]
