So it looks as if the various clues suggesting Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel would be coming up soon have proven to be true. In recent weeks there were reports the film could shoot early next year, and that Scott had made it clear to 20th Century Fox that Neill Blomkamp's Alien film would need to take a backseat for awhile. Now we're getting what looks to be as hard of a confirmation as we're likely to get until the studio makes an official statement on the matter.
In an Empire [via ThePlaylist] piece with Scott and Matt Damon about The Martian, the subject of the film's shifting release date came up, and the director revealed that he was already looking ahead to what was next...
“I was already on to my next movie! I was starting to look for locations for my next movie, which is 'Prometheus 2.' ”
So there you have it, Prometheus 2 is next up, which means Scott will likely hit the target January 2016 start date. If that's the case we could see it in 2017, which means Blomkamp's movie won't arrive at least until 2018, possibly later.
