Having literally just completed Andy Weir's The Martian early this morning, Ridley Scott's adaptation has leaped to the top of my anticipated list. The film makes its world premiere at TIFF in the coming days, and now we're seeing the marketing machine kick up in earnest with the first clip featuring stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sebastian Stan, Michael Pena, and Aksel Hennie.
Damon plays astronaut and botanist Mark Watney, who gets stranded on Mars when his team is forced to evacuate. This clip shows just the beginning of how things start to take a turn for the worse when an unexpected storm strikes. There are some images here that will recall Scott's Prometheus, which whatever one thinks of it looked pretty amazing.
Also starring Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Mackenzie Davis, Donald Glover, and Sean Bean, The Martian opens October 2nd.
