Jason Momoa Has a Warning for the Aquaman Haters Out There

Aquaman? Uh, he's kind of a joke. Or at least that's how fans have perceived him despite DC Comics' efforts to turn him into a badass.  Give him a long beard and a hook hand and he's still the superhero who talks to fish and is pretty useless on land, or at least that's the perception. He's never gotten his due on the big screen, though, and with Jason Momoa set to play the King of Atlantis in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and an eventual solo movie, all of the nay-sayers may have to clam up.

While at Canada's Fan Expo, Momoa engaged in some tough talk for those who want to knock Aquaman as a third-rate superhero...

“It’s cute and funny. People make fun of him. There’s a bunch of jokes about him, but I’m like, ‘Just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit, and then you can make jokes.’”

Momoa's casting was the first sign this wouldn't be your daddy's Aquaman. All we've seen of him really is the promo piece released some months back and it promises a more savage version of the character, perfect for Momoa who has played Conan the Barbarian and Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo.

Aquaman will debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25th 2016. He'll also be part of Justice League part one in 2017 before his James Wan-directed film arrives a year later.
