Amy Schumer and Director Jonathan Levine Confirmed for Mother/Daughter Comedy
Even before Amy Schumer's Trainwreck helped make her one of Hollywood's most sought-after comedy stars, she was already taking steps to secure her future. That meant developing projects for herself, and one of those was a mother/daughter comedy teaming her up with Ghostbusters and The Heat writer, Katie Dippold. A couple of months ago a rumor surfaced that Jonathan Levine (50/50) could be interested in directing, and now Deadline reports he is officially on board.
There's still no title but the story centers on a mother and daughter who are kidnapped while on vacation in Brazil. Dippold based the central duo on the relationship she had with her mom, but Schumer and her sister rewrote the screenplay to add their own unique comedic touches. The search is on for an actress to play Schumer's mom.
As for Levine, he's been busy with the holiday comedy The Night Before which opens next month and stars Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie.
