That Remake of 'The Raid' Probably Isn't Going to Happen Now

Those who have been dreading Screen Gems' remake of The Raid may have reason to smile this morning. According to The Tracking Board, the remake of the bone-crunching action flick has lost director Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3), star Taylor Kitsch, and even Screen Gems' as its distributor. There may not be any way to fight out of this mess.

How much of this is accurate? That's tough to say, but there has been little movement on the film which suggests it could be true. Frank Grillo was also up for a role and so far it seems as if he's still on board, but that could obviously change since a start date has yet to be nailed down. As for Gareth Evans, the groundbreaking director of The Raid and its equally-awesome sequel The Raid 2: Berendal, he's still attached as a producer.

So what happens now? A new distributor will be sought as well as an actor to replace Kitsch, but finding both could prove difficult; so difficult we may never see this project happen at all. I don't imagine there will be too many tears shed over that.
