Liam Neeson to Play "Deep Throat" in Watergate Thriller 'Felt'
Put Liam Neeson and "Deep Throat" together and one might think he's found a way to revisit his earlier role as renowned sexologist Alfred Kinsey. But in this case, "Deep Throat" is meant in a political context and not a sexual one, as Neeson will play the infamous Watergate source in Felt, a biopic by Parkland director, Peter Landesman.
Neeson will play FBI associate director W. Mark Felt, who in 2005 revealed himself to be "Deep Throat" after decades of speculation. Felt broke open the Watergate scandal when he began informing Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, at the risk of his personal and professional livelihood.
Landesman also wrote the screenplay for what is being described as a spy thriller, like most of Neeson's movies are nowadays. . There are a number of colorful, historically significant characters (Nixon, anyone?) to choose from which should make the casting very interesting. Filming is to begin in March. [Deadline]
