First Trailer For 'The Legend of Tarzan' With Alexander Skarsgard And Margot Robbie
While it looked a while back like Warner Bros.' The Legend of Tarzan may not happen due to budget and casting problems, the David Yates-directed jungle thriller is shooting now and the first trailer has arrived. USA Today has also debuted new shots of a shirtless Alexander Skarsgard as the Edgar Rice Burroughs hero, along with Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie as his wife, Jane.
This Tarzan is expected to be very different from previous versions as it takes place long after they've left the jungle to live a more civilized life. But memories of his jungle life among the animals haunt him, until he's invited to return to the Congo as an emissary only to find that his friends are all in danger. Cue the vine-swinging action. Here's what Skarsgard had to say about the role...
“It’s almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it’s about taming the beast,” says SkarsgĂ„rd, 39. “This is about a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out.”
Also starring Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and Djimon Hounsou, The Legend of Tarzan opens July 1st 2016.
