Amy Adams And Jean-Marc Vallee Set For 'Sharp Objects' TV Series
Considering the success of Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl on the big screen, and ignoring the uber flop that was Dark Places, it was inevitable that the author's debut novel, "Sharp Objects", would get adapted soon and with top notch talent attached. What we couldn't have guessed was that it would be as a TV miniseries rather than as a feature film.
But that's exactly what is happening as Variety reports Amy Adams will star in Sharp Objects, which Jean-Marc Vallee (Wild, Dallas Buyers Club) will direct as a potential TV series. The project, to be written by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), centers on a reporter recently released from a psych hospital who returns to her hometown to cover the murders of two young girls.
The project is being shopped around right now and it shouldn't take long for it to find a home given the combination of Flynn, Adams, and Vallee. The director's next film is the Jake Gyllenhaal-led Demolition, but he also has an HBO adaptation of Little White Lies with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley. Don't be surprised if this ends up there, too.
