Dwayne Johnson Returning For Volcanic 'San Andreas' Sequel

Dwayne Johnson is about to rock your world again, pun totally intended. Johnson scored the biggest non-Fast & Furious hit of his career with last year's disaster flick, San Andreas. The film went on to gross $470M worldwide, and New Line wants to see if a sequel can command those kinds of earth-shattering numbers once more.

Johnson, along with director Brad Peyton, and co-stars Paul Giamatti, Alexandra Daddario, and Carl Gugino, are expected to return for San Andreas 2. Screenwriters Neil Widener and Gavin James have been hired to pen the script, which naturally will up the ante and have Johnson's heroic resuce pilot dealing with a volcanic disaster across the Pacific Ocean's infamous "Ring of Fire".

This will be the fouth collaboration between Johnson and Peyton. The two first teamed up on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, and will work together again on an adaptation of monster video game, Rampage. [THR]
