'John Wick' Sequel Gets New Title And 2017 Release Date

It looks like John Wick has bought himself a new puppy because a sequel to Keanu Reeves' surprise hit action film now has a new title and release date. Lionsgate has set the newly-titled John Wick: Chapter 2 for February 10th 2017, which puts it up against some stiff competition also vying to be the Valentine's Day date night movie.

The film will be opening against Fifty Shades Darker, The Lego Batman Movie, and the Idris Elba romance, The Mountain Between Us. Don't be surprised if one or two of these movies get knocked around the schedule a little bit to clear some breathing room. The John Wick sequel brings Reeves back as the titular assassin, surrounded by a cast that includes John Leguizamo, Ian McShane, Bridget Moynihan, and Lance Reddickof, Ruby Rose, Laurence Fishburne, Peter Stormare, and Common. Chad Stahelski, one half of the prior film's directing duo, will be flying solo on this one.

Also, the Matt Damon-led Chinese action flick The Great Wall has been bumped from its November 2016 slot to President's Day weekend, February 17th 2017. Zhang Yimou is directing what is expected to be a huge international blockbuster centering on “an elite force making a last stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.”
