New 'Amityville: The Awakening' Trailer With Jennifer Jason Leigh And Bella Thorne
Uh, remember Amityville: The Awakening? Dimension Films' latest crack at the horror franchise was supposed to open a full year ago but that obviously never happened. And now it looks like they're trying to clear the decks a little bit by dumping the film out in April...on April Fool's Day no less. So if it doesn't happen we'll know it was a big ol' prank.
On the plus side, stars Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Bella Thorne (The Duff), and Cameron Monaghan (Gotham) are pretty hot right now. Franck Khalfoun (P2) directs the horror flick, which follows a new family living in the haunted house. Here's the official synopsis:
Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
This is the first major Amityville film (there have been a handful of straight-to-DVD efforts) since 2005's remake of The Amityville Horror, which starred Ryan Reynolds (there's that name again) and did surprisingly well at the time. Amityville: The Awakening opens April 1st.
