Arnold Schwarzenegger Could Return For 'The Predator'
Could Arnold Schwarzenegger be ready to go another round with the Predator? With Shane Black developing The Predator, a "sequel/reboot" of the Governator's classic 1987 action flick, there has been speculation that he may return as badass "Dutch" Schaefer. Speaking to his fans, er, at The Arnold Fans, he kept the door wide open for a possible return.
"I haven’t talked with [Shane Black] yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with [Arnold’s Sports Festival] and 'The Apprentice' and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about 'Conan,' about the project moving forward."
Here's the thing; having Schwarzenegger come back for Terminator Genisys didn't get that franchise anything but cancellation. Come to think of it, he hasn't really had a hit since he returned to acting. So what's the benefit other than scratching behind the ear of the original film's most die-hard followers?
As for The Legend of Conan, it has Schwarzenegger playing an older version of the Cimmerian king, with a tone that's being compared to Unforgiven. And of course, it may launch an interconnected universe ala Marvel, which may be what those meetings are about. Or maybe it has finally found a director?
The Predator opens March 2nd 2018.
