If it hasn't been made clear by tossing Spider-Man right into the middle of Captain America: Civil War, or by casting a younger actor in Tom Holland, Marvel's take on the web-slinger is going to be a little bit different. And apparently that is going to extend to his supporting cast, which we know will include Marisa Tomei as a younger Aunt May, and now Disney Channel starlet Zendaya Coleman has been cast in the Spider-Man solo film as an all-new character.
Zendaya is probably best known for starring alongside Bella Thorne on Disney's hit series, Shake it Up. Thorne graduated from the network long ago and now it's Zendaya's turn to do the same. She'll play a character named Michelle, a key role that is not expected to be a love interest for Peter Parker, but a part of Marvel's attempt to make this version of Spidey more diverse, at least that's what THR's Borys Kit says...

Perhaps this is Marvel and Sony's way of making up for not going with the Miles Morales version of Spidey? Zendaya had been up for another comic book role, that of Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, so superheroes were always going to be in her future, it seems.
