New Trailer For 'The Adderall Diaries' With James Franco, Amber Heard, And Ed Harris

Psychoactive substances have been a regular part of many James Franco films, but never quite like in The Adderall Diaries. Based on Stephen Elliott's memoir, the film debuted last year at Tribeca and buzz on it has been pretty quiet ever since, but as it's set to open digitally next week, a new trailer has been released.

Titled "True Deception" internationally, the film stars Franco as Elliott, afflicted with writer's block and increasingly dependent on Adderall. As he becomes obsessed with the high-profile Hans Reiser murder case, he also begins a relationship with a smart and sexy reporter (Amber Heard), while facing the threat of his abusive father (Ed Harris) who has re-entered his life.

Pamela Romanowski, who worked with Franco on The Color of Time anthology, is at the helm for this one, with Christian Slater, Cynthia Nixon, Timothee Chalamet, and Jim Parrack co-starring. The Adderall Diaries hits DirecTV on March 10th, followed by a theatrical release on April 15th.
