Sylvester Stallone Rumored For 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2'
Marvel has done a pretty good job luring big names to all of their MCU movies, and even if they don't actually get in front of the camera some of them have provided celebrity voicework. Guardians of the Galaxy obviously has the two most high-profile voice actors with Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper as Groot and Rocket, but could they also soon be joined by Sylvester Stallone?
A rumor surfacing at the New York Daily News (judge accordingly) suggests that Stallone has a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. They say the Creed star and recent Oscar nominee was spotted leaving his Atlanta hotel holding a script, then jumped into a car headed to the film's set. While no one at Marvel has confirmed Stallone's involvement, a source says his role is likely a cameo. So that would probably take him out of the running to play Star-Lord's father, a character that is expected to play a major part in the sequel. A cameo for Stallone could be anything, including voice-over for a CGI character of some kind.
If true, Stallone would be joining Kurt Russell as the other major new addition to the cast. Can Star-Lord have two dads? Overall this sounds very flimsy, and it's probably a good idea to wait until Marvel makes it official, or denies it.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5th 2017.
