*After his clever tease over the weekend, Dave Bautista has been confirmed for a key supporting role in Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2. No word on what that role will be exactly, but something tells me he'll be a badass replicant. The news was revealed by Alcon Entertainment. Original post is below.*
It's WrestleMania weekend so Guardians of the Galaxy and Spectre star Dave Bautista is probably running around Texas somewhere right now.. Perhaps he's at the WWE Hall of Fame? Whatever he's doing, he found enough time to tease his next major, and he did it in a pretty clever way.
In Bautista's latest Instagram post he's seen playing with an origami unicorn, which should be familiar to fans of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner. The image was captioned, "I can't wait to share some really exciting news...", but he probably doesn't need to say anything as it appears he's part of Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel. He'll be joining Ryan Gosling, the returning Harrison Ford, and the recently cast Robin Wright in the film which is being kept largely under wraps for now. What we do know is that it takes place decades after the original classic, and will be penned by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green with Roger Deakins lensing.
Blade Runnner 2 begins shooting this summer for release on January 12th 2018.
