Aaron Sorkin's 'Molly's Game' To Star Idris Elba And Jessica Chastain

It's been a long time coming for award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin to make his directorial debut. After toying with other projects in the past, including The Social Network at one point, Sorkin is finally getting his shot with an adaptation of Molly's Game, and after Jessica Chastain was rumored for the title role a few months ago she has now been confirmed along with Idris Elba.

Chastain and Elba are set to headline the film which is based on Molly Bloom's memoir. Bloom was an Olympic-level skier and law student who began running an exclusive high-stakes poker game that attracted Hollywood royalty, politicians, athletes, and mobsters. Things were going well for a decade until the FBI came bursting through the door. Elba will play Molly's lawyer, who learns that there is more to her than the tabloids would have you believe.

This one has "awards contender" written all over it, but a lot is going to depend on how well Sorkin takes to directing. A great screenwriter doesn't necessarily make for a great filmmaker.
