'Independence Day: Resurgence' Extended Trailer Brings More Alien Chaos

You know who has really slow response time? No, not your local cable service or phone carrier, but extraterrestrials. How else to explain why it took 20 years for the aliens from Independence Day to answer a distress call and return just in time for next month's Independence Day: Resurgence? That question doesn't get answered in the latest trailer, but at 5 minutes in length a lot is definitely brought out into the open.

Unsurprisingly, this extended U.K. trailer also gives us our first look at Charlotte Gainsbourg, who appears to be working alongside the returning Jeff Goldblum. We also see more of Maika Monroe as the daughter of former President Whitmore (Bill Pullman), and heroic pilots played by Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher, the latter the son of Will Smith's character from the first movie. But it's possible that too much has been given away here, which is a problem with these extra-long trailers. In particular I think we have a good idea of everything that happens to President Whitmore.

Also starring Vivica A. Fox, Sela Ward, Brent Spiner, Judd Hirsch, and William Fichtner, Roland Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24th.
