Jessica Chastain And Cecily Strong To Star In Comedy 'Plus One'
Jessica Chastain is a tremendous actress, but can she make us laugh? Short of the shade she was throwing around Crimson Peak and The Huntsman: Winter's War she hasn't taken on many roles that call for her to bring the funny, but she's about to get her chance. And what's more, she'll have help from SNL breakout, Cecily Strong.
Chastain and Strong are set to star in Plus One, which will mark the follow-up from The Overnight director Patrick Brice. Penned by April Prosser (an assistant on Entourage), the story will put Chastain in the straight-woman role as a single lady who realizes all of her girlfriends are getting married and can no longer hang out. Strong plays the sexually uninhibited woman who becomes her wingwoman on the dating scene.
Of course, this one is being shopped around right now and will have no trouble finding support. Chastain's got a ton on her plate already with Aaron Sorkin's Molly's Game, Xavier Dolan's The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, and many more. [Deadline]
