'X-Men: Apocalypse' Post-Credits Scene Could Tease An Important Character

You can't do a superhero movie nowadays without some kind of post-credits scene. Thanks, Marvel. Mostly they're used to reveal a major twist or to tease an aspect of a larger cinematic universe. Occasionally they feature heroes eating schwarma. As expected, X-Men: Apocalypse has a tag after the credits, and according to writer/producer Simon Kinberg it could be very important to the entire franchise's future. Here's what he told Collider...

“It’s a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean certainly the Wolverine movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there’s also another character that’s introduced, at least in name, in the tag and he could show up in any host of different X-Men films. Maybe a Gambit movie, maybe another X-Men movie.”

Well, that Gambit movie isn't looking so hot lately, but Kinberg sounds like he has faith in it happening eventually. One character with close ties to Gambit is the villain Mr. Sinister, although his tentacles stretch all throughout the X-Men universe. Who else could he be referring to? Another guess is Cable, the future child of Scott "Cyclops" Summers and a clone of Jean Grey (Don't ask.) . He also happens to be Apocalypse's arch-enemy, a friend of Deadpool, and leader of X-Force, a team rumored to be getting a movie soon.

So we'll see who it is when X-Men: Apocalyse opens on May 27th. Unfortunately our screening didn't have jack after the credits, but I didn't let that affect my review.
