How Jared Leto's Joker Freaked Out Viola Davis, Plus New 'Suicide Squad' Posters

The word "reshoots" has never been used more in a negative context than it has this summer, and one film that was hit with some bad buzz was Suicide Squad. It came at a time when Warner Bros. was really trying to recover from poor reviews for 'Batman v Superman', and the reshoots were supposedly to lighten up the tone. The film's comedic side has been the focus ever since, and as the hype machine kicks into gear Viola Davis, who plays Amanda Waller, has a funny story to share.

As most know by now, Jared Leto went totally method for his role as The Joker, pulling a Daniel Day-Lewis by staying in character the entire time. As part of that, he sent Davis a really peculiar gift, a box of bullets, which she admits to E! sorta freaked her out...

“It was a little worrisome. It made you a little bit nervous and I’m pretty tough. You know I got into a few fights when I was growing up…but it scared me a little bit.”

She says she didn't have a chance to have a normal conversation with Leto until after shooting was wrapped...

“Before that I was only introduced to The Joker…and I almost had my pepper spray out. You know, ‘You remember that bullet you sent me?'”

With so many stars all in one place that would have been a wild set under the best of circumstances. Hopefully Leto's actions helped lighten the mood as much as they may have freaked some out.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has revealed more comic book-style character posters featuring Davis, Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, and the rest of the team. They seem to be dropping a new poster every few days or so. Check those out below, followed by a pair of music videos for songs off the official soundtrack. Neither is really my thing, but the vids do feature some never-before-seen footage.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad opens August 5th.
