Marvel: 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Concept Art, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Cast Confirmed, 'Thor: Ragnarok', And More

I'll be perfectly honest with you: this Comic-Con has been a bit lackluster, at least when it comes to Marvel. It's one of the reasons why I didn't feel it absolutely necessary to be there this year. Many of the reveals were things we already knew. That said, the Marvel panel is still a highlight, delivering news on Captain Marvel, a significant Black Panther update, a Doctor Strange trailer, and yet there's still a lot more...just no footage. Or at least none for those who decided to stay away from San Diego.

First up is the anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with James Gunn not even bothering to be coy about who the identity of Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) father is. *SPOILER*  Turns out that Kurt Russell is indeed playing Star-Lord's father, and it turns out he is Ego, the Living Planet. How can a planet father a child? That question does get answered, as in the footage Ego has assumed a human form. Alrighty then. Sylvester Stallone was also shown in some footage, although his character's identity has not been revealed. Elizabeth Debicki was confirmed as Ayesha (Adam Warlock ALERT!!!), and Pom Klementieff is Mantis. We also know that Yondu (Michael Rooker) and the other Ravagers will be playing a key part.

We also learned that next summer will find Disney California Adventure’s The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror being replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: BREAKOUT! The theme park attraction has the team imprisoned inside The Collector's museum, and obviously they need to get outta there lest they be put under glass like Howard the Duck.

Spider-Man: Homecoming had some footage for the Hall H attendees, as well. For us, we get a piece of concept art featuring the Vulture, confirming the villain is indeed in the movie. We just don't know if Michael Keaton is playing him. There's also a brief new synopsis that doesn't tell us much at all:

 “A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios’ “Captain: Civil War,” begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Like most of Marvel's title, Thor: Ragnarok received a pretty basic new logo. The Taika Waititi-directed film has only been shooting for a few days so there wasn't any actual footage, however a documentary featuring Thor (Chris Hemsworth) lounging around in Australia with a roommate. Too bad we can't get a look at that. So there wasn't much new that we didn't already know thanks to the Planet Hulk weapons and armor found earlier in the day.

For me, the coolest part of any Marvel movie is the opening intro sequence with the flipping comic book pages. Well that intro has received a significant upgrade, one that may be even more exciting when seen on the big screen. Check it out along with everything else we have that's available, below!
