Jack O'Connell To Play Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen In Andrew Haigh's Biopic
Jack O'Connell's most accomplished performances have mostly come on smaller efforts, such as Starred Up and '71, while his big studio roles in Money Monster and Unbroken have failed to impress. But he's still one of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors, and he's just landed the lead role in the new biopic from 45 Years and Looking director, Andrew Haigh.
Deadline reports O'Connell will star in Haigh's developing biopic on fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Playwright Chris Urch wrote the screenplay based on Andrew Wilson's biography "Blood Beneath the Skin". McQueen had a rapid rise in the fashion world, but struggled with drug abuse and depression, ultimately taking his own life in 2010.
Haigh is currently in post on his latest film, Lean on Pete, and should be finished in time for the McQueen movie to shoot next spring.
