Details On Drake Doremus' New Film With Charlie Hunnam And Lea Seydoux
Last summer we learned Drake Doremus had settled on his next romance film to follow Like Crazy, Breathe In, and Equals. The film would feature Charlie Hunnam and Lea Seydoux, but other details were scarce except that Rich Greenberg was writing the script with Ridley Scott producing. But now through a press release we've learned it will be titled ZOE, and the story finds Doremus staying in the realm of sci-fi. Here's the newly-released synopsis:
Written by Rich Greenberg (The Beauty Inside), the story follows two colleagues (played by Hunnam and Seydoux) at a revolutionary research lab who design technology to improve and perfect romantic relationships. As their work progresses, their discoveries become more profound than they could ever have imagined.
This doesn't sound too far off from Equals, which was set in a future society when all human emotion had been erased, until love came along of course. Doremus always has a fresh take on romance but I wouldn't mind seeing him get away from sci-fi and back to something more grounded like his earliest works. Still, I'm intrigued to see what he does here and with yet another gorgeous cast. Filming on ZOE begins next April.
