New 'Assassin's Creed' Trailer Takes Michael Fassbender Back In Time
Although we've seen plenty of footage from Assassin's Creed already, it remains one of the biggest question marks compared to other potential blockbusters coming up. Director Justin Kurzel has plenty of prestige pedigree as director of Macbeth, and it doesn't hurt he's reunited with his starring couple, Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. But in the end, this is still a video game movie and those have a notoriously awful track record. Will this one be different from the rest?
A new action-packed trailer helps shed a little bit of light. No matter what the cast is so good there's little chance of it being awful. Jeremy Irons, Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed, and Brendan Gleeson co-star in the film which finds Fassbender kicking butt through the past genetic memories of a 15th-century ancestor. Here's the synopsis:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Assassin's Creed opens December 21st.
