Shia LaBeouf Is John McEnroe In First Trailer For 'Borg vs. McEnroe'
Tennis fans, I know you've largely been underserved by Hollywood, but your time is coming. No more will you have to endure watching Wimbledon for the 1000th time. Not only do you have the tennis comedy Battle of the Sexes with Emma Stone and Steve Carell on the way, with a trailer that looks pretty darn good, but there's another film about a classic tennis rival coming your way. Shia LaBeouf stars in Borg vs. McEnroe, which chronicles the careers of two fierce opponents who couldn't be more different personally.
Sverrir Gudnason is Bjorn Bjorg, the former world's #1 tennis player, with the always-controversial LaBeouf appropriately playing the fiery, outspoken McEnroe in a film that seems to match their passion on the court. Stellan Skarsgard, Tuna Novotny, and Robert Emms co-star with Janus Metz Pedersen (Armadillo) directing. Here's the synopsis:
Borg vs McEnroe is a film about one of the world’s greatest icons Björn Borg and his biggest rival, the young and talented John McEnroe and their legendary duel during the 1980’s Wimbledon tournament. It’s a story about two men that became legends and the price they had to pay.
The film opens overseas this fall but as of now does not have a U.S. distributor.
