Weird First Look At John Goodman In Sci-Fi Film, 'Captive State'
The last time John Goodman dealt with otherworldly creatures he...didn't really deal with them at all. He hid from them in 10 Cloverfield Lane, spending the entire time tucked away in his shelter. Now in Rupert Wyatt's sci-fi flick Captive State he'll finally take them on, and he's all dressed up for the occasion.
Goodman sports a spiffy suit to go along with an odd contraption strapped to his mug while sitting in what looks like an underground Port-a-Potty. Here's a synopsis:
Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extraterrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.
The film is directed and co-written by Rupert Wyatt, whose streak of diverse projects continues after The Escapist, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and The Gambler remake you forgot existed. A previous synopsis revealed the story will shine light on the modern surveillance state and the threats to civil liberties and the role of dissent within an authoritarian society.
Vera Farmiga, John Majors, and Ashton Sanders (Moonlight) co-star. Captive State opens August 17th 2018.
