Interview: Jake Gyllenhaal And Jeff Bauman On 'Stronger', Staying True And Becoming Friends

Making a film about a recent tragedy, one that's still fresh in the minds of millions, is never easy. Telling the story of one person whose life was forever altered by that tragedy has to be even more difficult. In David Gordon Green's new film, Stronger, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Jeff Bauman, a regular guy from Boston who became an unexpected symbol of heroism after his legs were blown off in the Boston Marathom bombing. The film is about how Jeff, with the help of his girlfriend Erin (Tatiana Maslany), learns to put his life together again while in the national spotlight.

I had a chance to sit down and talk with Gyllenhaal and Bauman about Stronger. I really wanted to know what it was like for Jeff to see his story captured on screen and how that affected him. Jake talked about the responsibility in being true to the role, and also about the friendship the two of them built on set.
