Haters Mark Your Calandars! Transformers 3 Confirmed for 2011

Michael Bay surprised absolutely nobody by announcing on his page that he will be directing Transformers 3 for Paramount, with a release date set for July 1, 2011. Bay had been angling to take a full year off from the film, citing a need to recharge the batteries and do other stuff, but it looks like those pleas landed on deaf ears. Or he was just saying that to secure a better deal. Who knows? On his website, Bay had this to say...

Well, it's official: We have a great 'Transformers 3' story," Bay said on his site. "Today is Day One."

All the usual faces are scheduled to return. That kid from Battle of Shaker Heights will be there. Also that chick who turns into a monster and eats boys will be returning.

Bay traveled to Rhode Island to meet with Hasbro about some new characters for the film. No word yet on whether or not they are looking to offend an entirely different race of people this time around by introducing a Native American Autobot named Redskin, who transforms into a giant tee-pee base.
