So there's been no official announcement that Mean Girls 2 is in the works. Paramount is, however, already casting for it, which usually means there's something to actually....y'know....cast for. Oh, and there's also a plot synopsis, which again, some might see as a sign of some sort. Call me crazy.
Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool has the story, revealing that Melanie Mayron is helming the sequel. Mayron is best known as a director of numerous teen oriented TV shows, including small screen versions of 10 Things I Hate About You and the most recent 90210.
The original 2004 Mean Girls was written by Tina Fey and starred Lindsay Lohan as the new girl in town who finds herself part of the cool clique of hot chicks in school. Co-starring Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, Mean Girls would go on to be a surprise hit, grossing nearly $90M.
There's been no confirmation that any of the principles from the last film will be reprising their roles. In fact, this one has the stink of "straight-to-DVD" all over it. So what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Check out the plot synopsis below and let us know what you think.
