*Alexander Skarsgard, who most will recognize as Eric Northman in HBO's True Blood, has signed on to co-star in Battleship, the action flick based on the popular board game. Skarsgard will play the the brother of star Taylor Kitsch's character. Good to see him break out from True Blood. Too bad it's to be in Battleship.
* Leonardo Dicaprio is set to take on another one of this country's most controversial men, as he's signed on to star as J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's upcoming biopic. The script was handled by Dustin Lance Black, who wrote the phenomenal script for 2008's Milk. With Dicaprio on board and Black providing the words, expect this to not be your conventional bio. Hoover, who was the first director of the FBI, had more than his share of secrets and enemies, and wasn't against using his power to his own benefit.
* Darnit, I was hoping this project would quietly fade into the ether, but alas no. BloodyDisgusting is reporting that Don Cheadle(Hotel Rwanda) and Freida Pinto(Slumdog Millionaire) have been offered roles in Rise of the Apes, Rupert Wyatt's prequel to Planet of the Apes. So far only James Franco is confirmed as the lead character.
