I'll be the first to admit that I know next to nothing about Tamara Drewe the movie. I know a bit more about the comic strip series it's based on, written by Posy Simmonds. Created in 2005, it follows a shy girl who returns to her childhood hometown and transforms herself into a stunning bombshell, which turns her neighborhood upside down. The comic is based in part on the 19th century novel, Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. The film is being directed by Stephen Frears, who I'm hoping will bounce back after last year's disastrous film, Cheri. As for the trailer? Eh, doesn't really seem like my cup of tea, but anything starring the sexy Gemma Arterton is going to get my attention.
