Estrogen Overload! Streep, Bullock, Winfrey to star in comedy for Sex and the City director

Deadline is reporting Universal Pictures has acquired an as yet untitled comedy from Sex and the City showrunner, Michael Patrick King. He also directed both movies based on the popular HBO series.  The film is set to capture the madcap world of a Home Shopping style network.

As if that wasn't a big enough deal, the filmmaker shot for the moon in looking for a cast to fill out his film, reaching out to Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, and the most powerful woman on this and any other planet, Oprah Winfrey. King says...

"I came up with the idea of writing for Meryl, Sandy and Oprah and it became so specific to them that I wanted to be sure I had interest from these ladies," King told me. "I put it in front of each of them and they all said yes. To have access to these women, tell them this story and hear yes was almost like a Greek mythological journey, with me going from one goddess to the next. It was humbling. They're all unique, and the idea of writing parts that three strong women will play is such a challenge. Their body of work is beyond reproach. It's also appealing to craft a character for Oprah to come back and play that's not Oprah."

Doesn't he know by now? It's not Meryl, Sandy, and Oprah. It's Oprah, Meryl, and Sandy. Always rank by order of who can have you wiped off the face of the earth with but a single thought. Are men even going to allowed on set? I mean other than the shirtless dudes who'll be fanning these three women with giant leaves and serving them fresh cut strawberries and champagne.

King is expecting to have the script completed by January, with hope for filming to being next summer or early fall, depending on the obviously heavy work schedules for all involved.
