Marvel's Runaways pushed back *UPDATE*

*UPDATE*
Apparently I didn't do my due dilligence on this story yesterday, otherwise I would've noticed BleedingCool's update stating that Runaways' delay isn't as indefinite as it sounded. Instead it's slated for some time in 2012, which means it'll probably be in 2013 that we see the adventures of Karolina, Gert, Nico, and the rest of the gang.

Briefly...

Whether or not this has any effect on the rumors of Keke Palmer and Lucas Cruikshank joining Marvel's Runaways is yet to be seen, but it's being reported that Marvel is pushing back production on the teen-oriented superhero film, allowing director Peter Sollett to take on another project first.

Marvel's reason is that they want to focus their energies on The Avengers and the recently confirmed Iron Man 3. Shooting was set to begin in January 2011, but that's all but scrapped for now.

This is disappointing, as Runaways is the Marvel flick I've been most eager to see. The 1st volume of the comic series, while low selling, was one of the best things the publisher has produced in years. Strangely enough, it didn't start to stink until Joss Whedon took over as the writer and he sent the kids into the past for an awkward time travel storyline.

Runaways follows a group of kids who discover that their parents are members of a cabal of super villains known as The Pride. Refusing to be a part of that world, the kids take off on their own and decide to stick together, having numerous adventures and run-ins with other costumed heroes.
