One thing I love(or get aggravated by depending on the situation) about comicbookmovie.com is that they'll print any rumor, no matter how thin. It's cool, though, because those stories are generally a lot of fun to kick around. Such as this one, with a supposed "inside source" stating that Charlize Theron, Vera Farmiga, and Kacie Thomas could possibly be up for roles in The Dark Knight Rises.
Theron, who appears to be in the midst of a career resurgence once thought dead(by me anyway) after the horrific Ultraviolet, would be up for the role of Sarah Essen. Who in the blue hell is Sarah Essen? She first appeared in 1987 in Batman #405 as part of the Batman: Year One storyline. Jim Gordon(played by Gary Oldman in the movies) had a brief affair with her, but gave it up when a blackmail attempt was made. Sarah left Gotham City, but returned years later. She and Gordon resumed their relationship, ultimately resulting in marriage. Sarah is eventually killed by the Joker in issue #741 of Detective Comics at the hands of the Joker.
Farmiga and the virtually unknown Thomas(she had a minor role in The Burning Plain
If all this pans out, it means that this third film could deal very heavily with the "jobs" of both Batman and Gordon and the disastrous effect it has on their relationships. We've seen that done extremely well so far with Batman, but we've only got a glimpse of Gordon's family life.
