Brian De Palma finds 'Passion' for remake of French thriller, 'Love Crime'

Has it really been that long? It's been nearly 15 years since Brian De Palma made a movie I really enjoyed, 1996's Mission: Impossible.  Since then he's made some odd choices across a number of different genres: from the boring sci-fi flick Mission to Mars, to the sexy thriller Femme Fatale(only notable because of how hot Rebecca Romijin is), to the controversial war film Redacted.  Now he's back, and rather than crafting something original(which hasn't worked so well lately), he'll be directing Passion, a remake of a French crime thriller.

The original film, Alain Corneau's Crime d'amour(Love Crime), was released just last year and stars the scorchin' hot Ludivine Sagnier(go rent Swimming Pool now!!!) and Kristin Scott Thomas as rival business execs whose bickering eventually leads to murder.

Count me in, but then again I'm basing my enthusiasm solely on the original film, which I thought was the perfect example of a guilty pleasure, international style!  If De Palma can capture a similar tone, this could be something a comeback. Fingers crossed!
