The Beaver gets pushed back to May

Looks like we'll have to wait a little bit longer for Mel Gibson's big comeback flick, the controversial dark comedy, The Beaver. Originally set to release on March 23rd, it's limited theatrical run will now begin on May 6th before going wide two weeks later. That's putting it up against some stiff competition both weekends in the form of Thor and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The fan part of me is disappointed because based of what I've seen I think this is the perfect vehicle for Mel Gibson at this point in time. Plus it's directed and starring Jodie Foster, who I simply adore.

Check out the trailer for The Beaver below, followed by the official plot. Thanks to BoxOfficeMojo for the info.

Two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster directs and co-stars with two-time Academy Award winner Mel Gibson in The Beaver – an emotional story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life.

Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can't seem to get himself back on track... until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.
