Sure Shots: Bradley Cooper as The Crow; Joaquin Phoenix; Green Lantern

* The problems with trying to get a remake of The Crow off the ground have been well documented here. Stephen Norrington was to direct based on a Nick Cave script. Mark Wahlberg reportedly is attached, then suddenly Norrington and Cave are no longer wanted and Wahlberg splits too. But then Juan Carlos Fresnadillo(28 Weeks Later) is signed to direct and things are back on track. All the film needs is a star. THR is reporting that Bradley Cooper and Fresnadillo had discussions about the film while in Spain, and that they share a similar vision for the character. I don't really see Bradley Cooper as The Crow, but I'm basing that off the other movies, which isn't really fair. With Norrington and a new writer coming aboard they may be working on taking the film in a direction we haven't seen before.

* If you've been following the site for any length of time(or have known me more than 5 minutes) then you know I'm a huge fan of Paul Thomas Anderson. So I've been following the path of his religiously themed, Scientology-aimed film, formerly known as The Master, pretty darn closely. Philip Seymour Hoffman has long been attached as the fanatical, charismatic leader referred to as the Master. But casting the role of his disciple, who becomes disillusioned with the teachings has been a problem. Jeremy Renner was attached at one time, but when funding of the film fell through, he split and has since been snatched up by a handful of big franchises. Now funding is back in place, and so come the casting rumors again. Yippee! Variety is reporting that Joaquin Phoenix could be set to make his return to acting in the role vacated by Renner. Phoenix (sorta) took a hiatus from acting to act a fool in the mockumentary I'm Still Here. Before he went stupid, Phoenix was a favored actor of mine, and I'd love to see him get a chance to stretch himself under the guidance of Anderson. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

* Hey, remember that little story from a couple weeks ago about Michael Clarke Duncan voicing Kilowog in the Green Lantern film? Well THR reports that he's now been officially offered the job by Warner Brothers. Kilowog is the meanest and toughest of the Green Lantern Corps, serving as their head trailer of all new recruits.
