Trailer Time: The Devil's Double, featuring Dominic Cooper as Uday Hussein
The Devil's Double might be the weirdest film of the year. Featuring Dominic Cooper in a dual role as Uday Hussein, the late(and insane) elder son of Saddam Hussein, and as Uday's body double Latif Yahia, the film looks like Scarface if it was directed by Tony Scott. Actually that might be pretty interesting, but unfortunately this is directed by Lee Tamahori(XXX: State of the Union). Yikes. But it is based on Latif's own book of the same name.
The story of Latif Yahia is actually very interesting and unlike anything you've probably ever seen. It's almost like an issue of Human Target, only much better. Latif, who has had a resemblance to Uday ever since he was a teenager, was eventually called up to the Presidential Palace and forced to play his body double for any public appearances. Since Uday was always a high assassination risk, this was obviously a very dangerous gig. Latif eventually escaped after Uday turned on him, but those months of training and surgeries for the job must've been terrible. Uday was eventually killed by a US strike team in 2003. Aw shucks.
A trailer for the film, which could release in July, has been released and it paints the relationship as being openly contentious(which I highly doubt), but full of flashy cars and hot broads. Speaking of hot broads, how sexy is Ludivine Sagnier(Swimming Pool) in her scenes? Oh my goodness. Cooper is almost a spitting image of Uday, and here's hoping this film is seen widely enough that it'll make him more of a known commodity. Dude's got skills. As for the movie itself? I'm cautiously optimistic. Check out the trailer below...
