Amy Adams joins Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master

Grinning from ear to ear, folks. With Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, previously known as The Master, gearing up to shoot in a couple of weeks, the casting has been fast and furious the last few days. Yesterday saw the additions of Laura Dern, Jesse Plemons, and David Warshofsky to the cast. And today we learned that Lena Endre(The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) had signed on for an unspecified role. Now Deadline confirms that Amy Adams(Man of Steel) has joined as well. She, along with Endre and Dern, had been rumored for roles for some time. Looks like PT is getting every body he's pursuing for this film, speaking volumes about his influence as a filmmaker only a handful of projects into his career.

Adams is set to play the wife of Lancaster Dodd(Philip Seymour Hoffman), a man who returns home from WWII disillusioned, so he begins a belief system which quickly gains a following. Joaquin Phoenix is Freddie Sutton, a troubled man who becomes Dodd's closest confidant. The film was originally said to be a take on the origins of Scientology, but how much of that premise remains is yet to be seen.

Shooting the film won't pose any problem for the Oscar winning Adams, as she'll have time to squeeze this in before production begins on Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. She'll be seen by most folks next in The Muppets, alongside Jason Segel.
