The biggest news surrounding Ben Affleck's latest directorial effort, Argo, isn't who's in it, but that Affleck intends to put some of his actors through some intense stuff to make sure they know how hostages would really react. The film is basically about the CIA/Canadian operation to rescue some diplomats out of Tehran after they were stuck there during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. The plan was a unique one, creating a completely fake movie production and claiming the hostages were part of the crew. Sounds ridiculous? Well, it's absolutely true.
Affleck's been putting the pieces together for a few weeks now, although only he and Alan Arkin(Little Miss Sunshine
) are confirmed. Now we've got one more to add in John Goodman(Speed Racer
). Goodman will play John Chambers, the make-up artist most widely recognized for his work on The Planet of the Apes 
movies, but also assisted the CIA on numerous occasions. He'll be working closely with Arkin, who plays former spy turned movie producer, Lester Siegel. Affleck is CIA espionage expert Tony Mendez, basically the head of the operation.[Variety]
