If anybody watched the disturbing HBO series, Oz
, then you no doubt remember Christopher Meloni as the screwed up murderer Chris Keller, but he's probably best known for the last 12 years he's spent on Law & Order: SVU. This season will be his final one as detective Elliot Stabler, but he's jumping into the world of movies in a big way. Deadline reports that he's joined Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel. Meloni's role is said to be a "major" one, although nobody knows for sure what that may be. Could he be Perry White, Clark Kent's boss at the Daily Planet? That's probably the best guess, although I'd kill for him to totally shave his head and play Lex Luthor. He makes a terrifically sadistic bad guy.
He joins a cast that already includes Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Julia Ormond, Antje Traue, and Russell Crowe. Shooting begins later this year for release
