1st look photo: Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black

Y'know, if I was Daniel Radcliffe and I had just spent the past decade of my life playing one of the most iconic characters in movie history, chances are the last thing I would want to do is act. Add to that he's probably rich enough to have women fan him with giant leaves all day for the rest of his life, and it's a wonder the former Harry Potter is so darn busy. He's turned his attention back to the stage recently, and he's signed on to star in the indie film The Amateur Photographer, directed by Christopher Monger(The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill). But before that we'll see him in the supernatural horror, The Woman in Black.

Based on Susan Hill's novel, and a loose remake of the 1989 film, Radcliffe stars as a young lawyer who travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman terrorizing the locals. Sounds positively cheery. We caught a glimpse of a very brief  teaser for the film a few months ago, and I thought it captured the mood nicely. CBS Films has just released the above image, our first really good look at how Radcliffe will appear, and he appears to be quite spooked.

James Watkins is directing, while the script was written by Jane Goldman, who has a background most closely associated with comic book flicks(Kick-AssX-men: First Class). Ciaran Hinds and Janet McTeer co-star. Look for The Woman in Black when it haunts theaters on February 3rd 2012!
