Patrick Wilson confirmed for Ridley Scott's Prometheus

To me, Patrick Wilson will always be the doomed sexual predator in the indie thriller Hard Candy, opposite Ellen Page. But his career has skyrocketed since then, beginning with what was a star making turn in 2006's Little Children. Wilson took his newfound cred and has starred in a mix of quality mainstream flicks like Watchmen, The A-Team, Morning Glory, and this year's hit horror, Insidious. He just landed the starring role in his own TV series, the paranormal drama A Gifted Man, and after a few days of rumors he's just been confirmed for what will likely be his biggest film yet.

ThePlaylist has confirmed that Wilson has joined the cast of Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Prometheus. His participation had been mentioned a few days ago in the St. Petersburg Times in an interview about his new television gig. Nobody knows what his role is, just as we don't really know much about the Prometheus story. It continues to be the most well-guarded secret in all of Hollywood, although this has been making the rounds as the possible plot. Read it at your own peril.

Prometheus opens on June 8th 2012, and stars Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Kate Dickey, Guy Pearce, and more.
