It couldn't have been easy for Sean Stone growing up the son of a legend like his daddy, Oliver Stone. Not only do you have to listen to him recite mundane JFK assassination factoids all day, but if you want to become a filmmaker he casts a pretty deep shadow. Sean has been steadily piecing together his own directing career over the years in documentaries and smaller projects, but he's making his feature film debut with the horror film, Graystone. And he even got daddy to cameo.
The idea comes from a discussion Sean and his friend and co-writer Alexander Wraith had with his father over dinner while shooting Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. They started telling ghost stories, and somehow this became the basis for a story in which Sean and Alexander enter an old, abandoned psychiatric ward and discover they aren't alone. Judging by the trailer, there doesn't appear to be anything particularly novel about the film. These "haunted asylum" movies are a dime a dozen, but I'll withhold judgement until I can see it in full. There's no distribution behind this one yet, but I'm betting some strings will get pulled and we'll see it in theaters some time next year...[Shocktilyoudrop]
